“Minecraft” players have a whole new galaxy to explore thanks to a recent Star Wars-themed DLC pack. The content bundle includes in-game items, characters, and locations from across the Star Wars universe.

Players will find references to “A New Hope,” “The Empire Strikes Back,” “Return of the Jedi,” and “ The Mandalorian.”

In all, there are 12 planets to explore and they are all connected by lightspeed travel. Yes, that means players will even get to fly in an iconic X-wing or TIE fighter.

Mine the Galaxy, You Can

Fans of “Minecraft” have been asking for Star Wars content for years. Although there have been Star Wars-themed packs in the past, they have been limited to skins. While that was cool at the time, skins don’t give users the full experience of playing their favorite sandbox game in their favorite galaxy (that just so happens to be far, far away).

The latest DLC pack brings much more than skins to the table. An official “Minecraft” blog post says that it includes “a map, a skin pack, a full bespoke texture set, mobs and item reskins, UI treatment, and even a licensed soundtrack.”

The pack includes a total of 12 planets to explore. A promotional video shows Tatooine, Endor, and Hoth. It also had scenes on the Death Star, Cloud City, and several Star Destroyers. Obviously, each of the planets is populated with well-known characters, droids, stormtroopers, Empire machinery, and other creatures.

Despite the fact that some skins already exist, the DLC pack features a ton of new ones. Popular characters include the likes of Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Darth Vader, Chewbacca, Han Solo, Din Djarin (The Mandalorian), and The Child (Baby Yoda). Other characters shown in preview materials include Jawas, Kuili, Ewoks, Cara Dune, R2-D2, C3PO, Jabba the Hutt, Moff Gideon, and Lando Calrissian.

Players will be able to traverse “hyperspace” between the 12 planets in functional X-wings and TIE fighters. You can even travel in Mando’s Razercrest.

How to Get the ‘Minecraft’ Star Wars DLC

Given the sheer size of the pack, “Minecraft’s” latest Star Wars DLC is incredibly exciting. It gives players the most immersive Star Wars experience in the game yet.

“Minecraft” Marketplace partner and developer David Keningale clarified a bit of what players can expect from the new DLC pack. In an interview with the official Star Wars blog, he said, “You can choose to play in Survival mode where, naturally, the Empire will be out to stop intruders by night, or you can choose to play in Creative mode, where you’ll have the building blocks to create your own Star Wars adventures using a very large library of all-new assets.”

As such, players can visit iconic locations to recreate their favorite scenes from the original trilogy and “The Mandalorian” or craft a new Star Wars story of their own. The possibilities are endless.

The new Star Wars DLC pack is available now and can be purchased from the “Minecraft” Marketplace. It costs 1,340 Minecoins, which amounts to less than $10 if purchasing Minecoins through Amazon.
